GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far, in One Place

The short version of every pillar on this site: release date, price, setting, cast, gameplay, tech, and everything in between, with links to the full story on each.

GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far, in One Place

There’s a lot scattered across this site by now, and if you only have a few minutes rather than an afternoon, this is meant to be the condensed version: the actual state of things on every major thread, with a link to the deeper piece if any one of them grabs you.

Start with the date, since it’s the one everything else hangs off of: November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, not PS4 or Xbox One, and with no PC release date announced at all. That date has survived two delays and been publicly reaffirmed enough times that a third slip would be a genuine surprise at this point. Digital pre-loading opens a week early, on November 12.

Money is its own tangle worth untangling. The game costs $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate in the US, with meaningfully different pricing in other regions, and the gap between the two editions is entirely additive content, not a stripped-down base game. Rockstar has confirmed no microtransactions in story mode, though GTA Online’s future is a very different, much less certain conversation.

The setting is Leonida, a fictional Florida-inspired state built around Vice City at its center, with named regions stretching well beyond it and real Miami and Everglades geography sitting under a lot of the fiction. How big it is is genuinely unconfirmed. Every number you’ve seen is a community estimate, not an official figure.

The cast centers on Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, with Lucia the first fully-voiced, narratively central woman to lead a mainline GTA, and a supporting cast, confirmed by name, pulling both of them into separate criminal operations. What’s known about the plot is considerably thinner than the amount of world-building shown, and no clear central villain has emerged yet either.

On gameplay, expect a substantially reworked wanted system built around witnessed crimes and three-part suspect recognition, NPCs that react and remember more than in past games, and combat built around a capped, tabbed weapon system rather than GTA 5’s bottomless arsenal. Scuba diving is a full confirmed activity, and Rockstar itself has called the number of enterable interiors “enormous.”

Technically, GTA 6 runs on a heavily upgraded RAGE engine with real-time ray tracing, and Rockstar has confirmed 30fps at launch with no guaranteed performance mode, a real trade-off, not a rumor. The 677GB file-size figure going around is fake; realistic estimates land closer to 200-250GB combined with a day-one patch.

And running under almost everything: this is one of the biggest launches the entertainment industry has ever tracked, and Rockstar has handled the marketing run-up almost nothing like Cyberpunk 2077 did. No small part of what you’ll read about GTA 6 between now and November 19, on this site included, is going to turn out at least partly wrong once the game is in players’ hands.
