GTA 6 PC System Requirements
Rockstar hasn't announced official PC specs yet. Here's what we project you'll need to run GTA 6 on PC, built from RAGE 9's confirmed feature set and how requirements scaled from GTA V to Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rockstar has not published official PC specs. Every figure on this page is a projection built from RAGE 9 engine analysis and prior GTA/RDR launches, we'll swap in the real numbers the moment Rockstar releases them.

How big will the install really be?
Industry estimates place the base install between 150–200 GB, with day-one patches likely pushing it past 300 GB, in line with how both GTA V and RDR2 grew after launch.
Exhibit A, Install Size, Four Rockstar Launches
Why the file size keeps climbing
- 16K-capable texture assets for characters and environments
- Full-state ray-traced global illumination and reflection data
- A denser, more detailed Vice City than any previous open world
- Uncompressed high-fidelity audio and licensed soundtrack
What we'd budget for
- 500 GB free NVMe SSD minimum for GTA 6 alone
- 1 TB+ free space if you're keeping multiple AAA titles installed
- PCIe Gen4 NVMe for the fastest streaming performance
- Budget $80–120 for a solid 1–2 TB SSD if you need to upgrade
Streaming a city the size of Leonida at 60fps needs an NVMe SSD's random-read speed, a mechanical HDD will bottleneck load-ins and texture pop-in no matter how strong your GPU is.
What RAGE 9 is asking of your rig
Rockstar's proprietary engine is doing more physics, lighting and simulation per frame than any prior GTA, that's where the hardware demand comes from.
16K Texture Support
Insane detail levels for characters, vehicles and environments, your GPU's VRAM will be put to work.
Ray-Traced Global Illumination
Realistic lighting that bounces through the environment in real time, Vice City's neon reflections included.
Advanced Water Physics
Real-time wave simulation, currents, and interactions across Leonida's coastline and waterways.
Dense Crowd Simulation
Hundreds of independently-behaving NPCs on screen at once, taxing CPU cores harder than any prior GTA.
DLSS 4 / FSR 4 Support
AI upscaling to claw back frame rate on mid-range cards without giving up visual fidelity.
Dynamic Weather Systems
Storms, humidity haze and shifting Florida weather that physically affects gameplay and visibility.

Console Release
November 19, 2026Confirmed by Rockstar and reaffirmed in Take-Two's fiscal guidance, launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, no PC at launch.
PC Release
Late 2027 (est.)Rockstar hasn't announced a PC date. GTA V took about 18 months to reach PC after console; RDR2 took roughly 8 months, we're using that historical range as our estimate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Predicted specs suggest a GTX 1660 or RX 5600 XT class card as the minimum, with an RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT recommended for a smooth 1080p60 experience. Official specs will confirm this closer to launch.
A gaming laptop with equivalent GPU/CPU specs to the minimum or recommended tiers should work, though laptop GPUs typically perform below their desktop counterparts of the same name, aim a tier higher if you're on a laptop.
An SSD (ideally NVMe) is expected to be required, not just recommended. Open-world streaming at this scale relies on fast storage to avoid texture pop-in and long load times.
If you're already below the predicted minimum tier, it's reasonable to start planning. If you're close to the recommended tier, it may be worth waiting for Rockstar's official announcement before spending money.
Not yet confirmed by Rockstar. GTA V and RDR2 both eventually supported ultrawide, so it's reasonable to expect similar support, likely post-launch rather than day one.
