For most of its marketing, Rockstar said almost nothing about GTA 6. Since late August that has changed completely. Here is every official reveal in order, with links to our full coverage of each, so you can catch up in five minutes.
August
August 27: the Netflix Extended Look. About 26 minutes of PS5 gameplay premiered on Netflix, showing character switching, six-star wanted levels and the new Criminal Profile. It drew 31.1 million views in four days. Everything it showed.
September
September 10: Miami Beach votes yes. Commissioners approved Vice City branding on beach chairs and umbrellas from October 15. The Miami deals.
September 17: the official album. Rockstar and Atlantic Records announced a 34-track album, out November 19. Who’s on it.
September 22: a giant sign on the Kaseya Center. “Welcome to Vice City” went up on the Miami Heat's arena, big enough to read from passing planes.
September 24: the Goodtime State collector's box. A $399.99 merchandise box that doesn't include the game. All 11 items.
September 29: the Game Informer cover story. A map about twice the size of GTA 5's, confirmed hurricanes and more than 170 animal species. What we learned.
October
October 1: the final ESRB rating. M for Mature 17+, and no label for online interaction, consistent with a single-player launch. The rating explained.
October 5: LOVE magazine. Four new images and Rockstar's writers on Jason, Lucia and a smaller American Dream. The details.
October 15: Miami Beach campaign begins. Branding runs on the beach until December 31.
Still to come
Early November: Take-Two's earnings call, the last big checkpoint for the date. What to watch.
November 12: pre-loading opens and boxed copies reach shops. A launch trailer around this time would fit Rockstar's history. Will there be a Trailer 3?.
November 19: GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside the album and the collector's box. Launch day checklist.
We'll add each new reveal here as it happens.
