How to Buy Gear for GTA 6 Without Wasting Money
What you get on November 19
GTA 6 lands November 19, 2026, only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Standard Edition costs $79.99, Ultimate costs $99.99. Still no PC date. If you've been holding off on gear because "it's coming to PC eventually," that wait could run long.
There's also no online mode at launch. Rockstar's own store listings say it plainly: single-player only. So before buying a headset pitched around squad chat, check whether that mode even exists yet. Right now it doesn't.
Your controller takes the real beating
Nobody mentions this until their thumbsticks start drifting. GTA 6 asks a lot from one pair of sticks: precise driving, aiming under pressure, flying when a mission calls for it. A stock DualSense or Xbox pad handles that fine for most people.
Play for hours at a stretch, or you've already worn out a controller before, and a pad with swappable Hall effect modules earns its price. The DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite Series 2 both use them. Replace a worn stick module for around $20 instead of the whole controller. That's the entire case for spending more. Everything else a premium pad adds is just extra.
Skip the overthinking, skip the fake hype
Headset comfort beats spec sheets once you're three hours into a mission. Pick one you'd forget you're wearing.
Storage is worth checking now, not launch week. Rockstar's worlds keep growing and GTA 6 probably won't reverse that. An external drive fixes this cheaply if your console is already tight.
Buying early helps too. Preorders opened June 25, 2026, and accessory prices tend to climb as a release gets closer.
The one that costs people real money: watch for "Official GTA 6" branding on products Rockstar never touched. Rockstar hasn't confirmed specific controller features or third-party partnerships beyond basic PS5 and Xbox compatibility. A box leaning hard on a claim Rockstar itself never made is marketing wearing a costume.
