Buying Guide: Consoles for GTA 6

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so this is the one category where the decision is simple: pick whichever ecosystem you already prefer, since Rockstar hasn't announced platform-exclusive content for either side.

Storage matters right away. The Series S ships with roughly 364GB usable, tight for a Rockstar open world once day-one patches land. The base PS5 and Series X give more headroom, and Sony has confirmed PS5 Pro enhancements for GTA 6, though the specific improvements haven't been detailed yet.

Physical copies ship as a code in a box rather than a disc, so a disc drive isn't the deciding factor it used to be. Digital pre-loading opens November 12, a week before launch.
