The World of Leonida

Leonida is the fictional U.S. state at the center of GTA 6, inspired heavily by Florida, and like Florida, it's a state of extremes. Neon-lit city blocks give way to swampland within a short drive, and every region has its own rhythm, from the packed nightlife strip of Vice City to the quiet backroads of Ambrosia.

At roughly twice the size of GTA V's map, Leonida is built to reward exploration. Six major regions are confirmed so far, each with a distinct identity, climate, and cast of characters. Rockstar has leaned into environmental variety this time: dense urban sprawl, mountainous wilderness, coastal islands, industrial docklands, wetlands, and farmland all sit within driving distance of each other.

The map below is community-maintained and updates as new locations get confirmed through trailers, screenshots, and leaks. Treat district descriptions as our best current understanding rather than official Rockstar copy.

Vice City
Dense

Vice City

The neon-lit heart of Leonida, a satirical take on Miami, packed with strip malls, high-rises, and the Ocean Drive-style beachfront that's been the series' icon since the original Vice City.

Nightlife Beaches Downtown
Port Gellhorn
Medium

Port Gellhorn

A working industrial dockyard confirmed via trailer footage and screenshots. Expect shipping containers, warehouses, and the kind of business fronts that make for good heist setups.

Mount Kalaga

Mount Kalaga

A mountainous wilderness region spotted in leaked gameplay. Dense forest, elevation changes, and wildlife encounters suggest this is Leonida's answer to Mount Chiliad.

Wilderness Hiking Wildlife
Leonida Keys
Light

Leonida Keys

A chain of islands south of the mainland, connected by bridges and open water. Underwater exploration and boat-based traversal both appear central to this region.

Islands Boating Diving
Grassrivers
Light

Grassrivers

Everglades-inspired wetlands confirmed by trailer footage. Alligators, airboats, and remote safehouse territory continue the series' tradition of a rural counterpoint to the city.

Swamp Wetlands Airboats
Ambrosia
Light

Ambrosia

Rural farmland dotted with small towns, the kind of quiet backdrop that usually hides GTA's more eccentric side characters and side content.

Exploring Leonida

Every GTA map rewards players who drive around instead of fast traveling everywhere. Leonida looks built for that more than most, with each region feeling different enough that getting there is part of the point, not just a loading screen you skip past.

How the Regions Differ

Vice City is the obvious center of gravity, and most early gameplay and story content is expected to revolve around it. But the further regions aren't just padding. Grassrivers and Ambrosia give the map a rural, slower pace that Vice City doesn't have, while Port Gellhorn and the Leonida Keys lean into water and industry in ways the city itself can't. Mount Kalaga stands out as the one area built around elevation and hiking rather than roads, which is new territory for a GTA map.

What's Confirmed vs What's Speculated

Every district and location on this page is tagged based on how solid the evidence is. Confirmed means it's shown clearly in official trailer footage or verified screenshots. Speculated means it comes from leaked gameplay, datamined assets, or community analysis that hasn't been officially confirmed by Rockstar. Both categories are useful for planning, but only one of them is guaranteed to be accurate at launch.

Tips for Using This Map

Use the district tags to get a feel for a region's pace before you start planning routes or safehouse locations. A dense area like Vice City means more traffic, more police attention, and more places to lose a chase. A light-density area like Grassrivers means fewer obstacles but also fewer places to hide once you're spotted.

The interactive embed above is community-built, not an official Rockstar map, so treat road layouts and exact building placement as approximate until the game ships and the real map can be traced properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Leonida based on a real place?

Leonida is fictional, but it's clearly modeled on Florida, the same way Los Santos was modeled on Los Angeles. Vice City plays the role Miami does in the real state, and the swamps, keys, and rural interior all have real Florida counterparts.

How big is the GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5?

Rockstar hasn't given an exact number, but early estimates based on trailer footage and leaked map data put it at roughly twice the size of GTA V's map. That figure isn't official and could change before launch.

Will more locations be added to this map?

Yes. As Rockstar releases more trailers and as new leaks get verified, this page gets updated with new districts, corrected details, and real screenshots to replace placeholder images.

Can you travel between all six regions freely?

Nothing has been confirmed about region locking or story gating yet. Past GTA games have sometimes restricted travel early on before opening the full map, so it's worth waiting for official word before assuming Leonida works one way or the other.
