Buying Guide: Controllers for GTA 6
GTA 6 blends driving, shooting, and flying into one open world, so your thumbsticks take more punishment than in most games you own. A stock DualSense or Xbox pad handles that fine for casual play.
Play for hours at a stretch, or you've already worn out a controller before, and a pad with swappable Hall effect stick modules earns its price. The DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite Series 2 both use them. When a stick wears down, and it will eventually, replacing the module costs around $20 instead of the whole controller.
Third-party pads from Razer, Thrustmaster, and similar brands can undercut Sony and Microsoft on price while still using Hall effect sticks. Check reviews for stick drift complaints specifically, since that's the failure mode that matters most for a game this long.
