GTA 6 x Discord: The Leaked Launch Campaign Explained

Some headlines today call it GTA 6's "first free DLC". That is a long way past what's known. Here's the real story: files found inside the Discord app point to a GTA 6 promotion starting two days before launch. It includes cosmetic items for Discord itself and a quest whose reward nobody has seen yet. Neither Rockstar nor Discord has announced it.

Where this comes from

The files were found by Wumpus Central, an account on X that digs through new Discord builds for unreleased features and has a good record of getting them right. The campaign is codenamed "Hexagon" in the app's code. A datamine shows what Discord is preparing, which is not the same as a promise. Dates and contents can change before release, or the whole thing can be pulled.

What's in the files

Three items are clearly GTA 6 themed. There is an app icon, and an app theme that recolours Discord in Vice City's pink and yellow. There is also a display name font in the style of the GTA logo. These change how Discord looks for you and your friends. None of them are items inside GTA 6.

There is also a quest. Discord Quests usually ask you to stream or play a game for a set time in exchange for a reward. The files describe this one with an unknown reward. Some reports guess it could be a cosmetic for Jason or Lucia. Others think it pays out in Discord Orbs, the platform's own currency. Both are guesses for now.

The dates

According to the files, the campaign starts on November 17, 2026 at 18:00 UTC, which is five days after pre-load opens and two days before the launch. Free accounts keep access until December 8. For Nitro subscribers it runs until February 15, 2027.

Is there any free in-game content confirmed?

Not from this. The only in-game bonuses Rockstar has confirmed are the ones tied to buying the game, covered in our pre-order bonus breakdown. If the Discord quest does turn out to unlock something in GTA 6, Rockstar would need to say how it reaches your PlayStation or Xbox account. We'll update this post when either company confirms the details.

A practical note: a launch-week promotion like this is ideal bait for scams. Any "GTA 6 Discord reward" that asks for your Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox login is fake. A real Discord Quest appears inside the Discord app itself, under Quests, and never needs your password.
