Which Interiors Will Be Enterable
Rockstar itself calls the number 'enormous.' Leaked figures go much further, up to 700+ interiors, but those numbers carry a different level of confidence.

GTA 5, for all its scale, was famously stingy with enterable buildings. Outside of spaces built specifically for missions, there were fewer than two dozen interiors players could walk into across the entire map. It’s one of the more consistent complaints leveled at the game over the years, and it’s clearly one Rockstar has heard, based on how directly the studio has addressed it for GTA 6.
The most solid piece of information here comes straight from Rockstar itself. Rob Nelson, Rockstar North’s co-studio head, described the number of accessible interiors in GTA 6 as “enormous” in a direct interview, going further to say players will be able to enter “a lot” of buildings across Leonida. That’s genuinely useful confirmation. It’s an on-record statement from someone working on the game, not a leak or a guess, but it’s also intentionally vague. Rockstar didn’t attach a number or a percentage to “enormous,” which leaves plenty of room for the specifics to land anywhere from “noticeably more than GTA 5” to something far more dramatic.
That’s where the leaked figures pick up, and it’s worth being clear-eyed about the gap in reliability between them and Rockstar’s own statement. Reports from January 2025 pushed specific numbers into circulation: over 700 total interiors, with roughly 40% of large buildings enterable and all smaller shops accessible, reportedly supported by next-generation physics and destruction. Separately, debug code visible in the leaked 2022 development footage referenced at least 157 distinct interior locations, though that build was years away from the finished game and almost certainly doesn’t reflect the final count either way. Neither of these figures comes from Rockstar directly, and both should be read as informed leaks rather than confirmed specifications.
The safe way to hold this heading into launch: trust “enormous” as Rockstar’s own word, since it’s the only part of this confirmed. Treat any specific number you see attached to it, 700, 40%, 157, or anything else, as someone’s best estimate from leaked material, useful for setting expectations but not something to hold Rockstar to on release day.
