The Karin Futo has a longer history than most GTA Online vehicles: launched September 17, 2013 as stealable-only, made purchasable for $9,000 on October 9, 2018, then removed from direct sale again on June 13, 2023. Its design draws from the Toyota AE86 Levin, and today it's obtainable only by finding and stealing one off the street.
How It Drives
Broughy1322's fully-upgraded test clocks the Futo at 192.32 km/h (119.5 mph), with a 1:11.322 lap time. Rockstar's own in-game stat bars read 72.43 speed, 72.50 acceleration, 16.67 braking, and 62.12 handling, all on a 0 to 100 scale. That braking figure is genuinely weak, and combined with below-average handling, the car rewards drivers who lean into its lightweight, loose-traction character rather than trying to drive it like a precise track car.
How to Get One
There's no direct purchase path anymore. What's left is finding one parked or driving around the world, most commonly near Rockford Hills, Los Santos International Airport, or the Port of Los Santos, and simply stealing it. There's no mission reward or guaranteed spawn, so availability depends on exploring those areas.
Customization Highlights
A full build runs $169,820 at Los Santos Customs and the LS Car Meet Mod Shop, cheap relative to most Sports-class vehicles. Turbo tuning is the single largest line item at $30,000. Ten drift-themed livery designs are available, including Drift Missile and Garage Drift, and the car is one of the few in the game eligible for the LS Car Meet's dedicated Drift Tuning modification, though applying it disables every other performance upgrade.
Comparison to Other Variants
Against the Karin Futo GTX (a separate, purchasable model, $1,590,000, 181.05 km/h fully upgraded), the base Futo is faster in Broughy1322's tests despite costing nothing, though the GTX carries a more aggressive widebody look and higher handling ceiling once fully built. Against the Maibatsu Penumbra, another vehicle removed from direct sale, the Futo shares the same "find and steal" acquisition path and similarly modest stats.
Is It Worth Buying?
Since it can no longer be bought new, the real question is whether it's worth finding and stealing. At zero cost, yes, especially for players interested in drift culture or freemode use, given its genuine Drift Tuning eligibility. It's not worth pursuing for competitive racing given its weak braking and handling scores.
Quick Tips
- Check Rockford Hills, Los Santos International Airport, or the Port of Los Santos for street spawns Apply Drift Tuning at the LS Car Meet only for freemode drifting, it disables every other performance upgrade Don't expect strong braking even fully upgraded, its 16.67 rating is among the weakest tested Budget $169,820 if you want the full upgrade build, it's relatively affordable for the class Watch for it in future GTA VI content if your site tracks upcoming vehicles, it's confirmed to return.

Special Features
Pros & Cons
- Free to obtain, just find and steal one off the street

- Very weak braking (16.67 on Rockstar's own scale)
- Weak handling for the class (62.12 on Rockstar's own scale)
- No longer directly purchasable, acquisition depends entirely on finding one in the world
- Not bulletproof by default, a single homing missile, RPG, or sticky bomb destroys it even at 100% armor
